So I had a six gallon UNS tank setup in my room. Had it setup for some api bettas that I moved downstairs and then I put some tiger shrimp in the tank. They did well but I had placed the baked soil substrate in the tank and its been over 2 years. It has been slowly turning into sludge and I was kind of over the tank in my room and shrimp. since I needed to break the tank down to redo the substrate I thought I would go a different route, so I am planning on placing some tiny catfish; Akysis microps, and pangio cuneovirgata. Unfortunately the loaches aren't in stock but the catfish should be here Tuesday. Tank is cycled as the same filter/media is being used on the tank. I also had multiple lava rocks in the tank that I am also reusing and more than likely has some beneficial bacteria.
The tank was moved to the family room with the saltwater tanks.

Sorry it's been a while, life kind of dropped a bomb on me so I had to deal with that. The tank is experiencing a algae explosion. I should have known better than to add the fissidens moss mat that was in the tank prior to me redoing it because it has slowly been bringing back hair algae and black beard algae. So I did remove it today as well as any other algae that I could collect off the rocks that is trying to take hold. I've also covered the tank with a dark towel and will keep it covered for the next week to see if it'll stop whatever algae is remaining from progressing. I did get a photo of the catfish, well at least one of the five. I'm not sure where the badis went.

Everything is cloudy now because I pulled the algae/moss mat out and as many leaves that had algae growing on them that I could find in the tank.

There's one of the five catfish. They're extremely cute although nocturnal.

I did say that they were small right? ;)

Lights out and mostly covered the tank for a few weeks now. The hair algae is mostly gone. Do have some BBA, but it is manageable.
