Single Cichlids Rather Than Pairs

MY one problem with Geo is that they dig all the time. Its what they do in search for food. Its fun to watch but annoying when they dig up plants and make rocks or wood fall. Then the tank always have little random lumps of sand. Geos are such good looking fish but they dig more then a Terrier. If your ok with that then the stock looks good. :good:

yep, I'm prepared for that. I have quite a few silk plants towards the back of the tank, not sure how long I'll keep them in there with the geos. Looking forward to seeing their natural digging behaviour. I'm picking up the rotkeil on Monday and 2 geos with a shoal of 12 columbians on Tuesday. I'll leave it like that for a couple of weeks and then, if all is going ok, add the 4 remaining geos a couple of weeks later.

Hows the tank coming along Andy?
Coming along great thanks, I have had the fish in together for 4 weeks now and all is going well.

I added a second external filter for extra peace of mind so I have 2 Tetratec EX700s running on it.

I have 6 Geophagus Redheads, 5 are at about 3-4 inches and one is 7-8 inches but they all get along fine, obviously the odd squabble but everyone has their space and nobody is being bullied, fins aren't getting shredded. I have a shoal of 12 columbian tetras plus a male rotkeil which I got from star4.

The smaller redheads are really beginning to colour up and getting decent fin extensions and the rottie has grown at least an inch in the last month, he's getting on for 5 inches now I would say.

I'll have to get some pictures added sometime. In time I may thin out the geos but happy with things for the foreseeable future.

It happens almost all the time, i'm guilty of it also. Starting threads that start so promising, with the prospect of some great pics of great fish. And this is where i fail - i take months getting them up once i've told everyone about the tank :p

Pictures!!! Haha

Ok you asked for it!

This was the largest geo when he was introduced to the tank a month ago with one of the smaller ones

Another pic of the same 2 fish, a month ago

my rotkeil when he first went in a month back

I have loads more pics on the camera from over the last month, I'll pick out a few good ones and upload, the fish have really grown well.
