Silver sharks

Dawney G needs to explain which shark he's talking about. Everywhere I go it's called a silver shark...and it's a catfish. It's labeled the same in every store and it looks like the shark in viper's pic. That is the shark I have, and is the shark I'm talking about. If you are talking about a different shark, then don't tell me I'm wrong, and your right.

P.S. andywg, I'm going to put you in a 90 gallon if you don't zip it.

Wilder, with all due respect I think that everyone is getting the bigger picture here. Providing link upon link is not really going to help ..... :/

Oh Fishfight, once more we see the shroud of the internet thinking people can offend and scare at will.

To be honest, I'm far more worried that you will put me in a tank that's too small :p

Ok, only trying to help.

i think wilder's mouth needs a bigger tank............OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH ZING!!! im gonna buy an alligator and put it in a 30 gallon tank  thats how serious i am thanks to boozoo !!!!!!! its not like viper is buying fish so she can be cruel to them.

Thanks, actually it is confusing if they kept them all to one name, we wouldn't be falling out, at the end of the day i only care about the welfare of the fish.

Hi everyone,

I have just been browsing this thread, i dont mind enthusiastic debate about fish species and their differences but I ask that its kept civil and the agression is kept out.

I think the thread is quite informative and it would be a shame ot close it down to due the conversation getting out of hand.

Thanks for listening

I agree with Navarre, some people just don't know how to calm down. Rather than attack each other, think of the good of the fish as opposed to your egos. In the end, we just want what's best for the fish, right?

right back to the original question i think....

silver sharks need to be kept in shoals to keep them calm and relaxed.
they need to be housed in a 125 once older, smaller growout tanks can be used up to this point as they grow slowly.

the catfish that has been linked is a brackish species with also prefers to be in groups and needs a minium of 125g tank aswell with a strong brackish mix of 1.010 or more. they can grow up to a foot and in my parts are more commonly known as the shark cat or sometimes columbian shark cat.

keeping big shoaling fish in small tanks singlely isn't clever and isn't fair on the fish.

I disagree, I think these fish can thrive by themselves in a 30 gallon.

Nevermind. Didn't see this page. But do read Wilder's link to the shark catfish...

You can keep a dog alive in a shed in your yard for years, but that doesn't mean that this is the correct way to keep dogs.

I don't think it would survive long though - once the fish reaches maturity, it will die in freshwater.

edit: SirMinion - I only just saw your avatar - she's amazing!
