Hi. I want to get a couple of silver dollars. I thought they'd be a cichlid, but they're not which makes me happy. Are they going to try to eat my fish at all? How fast do they grow? How big would they grow in my 50g? Are they going to be alright with the fish I've got and some tetras?
Have you got them? what are they like?
thankyou

SD's are awesome fish! They will grow around 6'' in diamter, in a 50g I would keep keep 5-7 (they always school). No live plants, as they are lawn mowers and will eat anything you try to grow in that tank. They are fine with small tetras.

thankyou. that makes me very happy. I don't have live plants anyway coz I've got a 5" (7" inc tail) pleco and he/she demolishes new plants within about 2 days. My tanks kinda bland. have to get some plastics.
but thanks, i thing i'll get some. Would two be alright until I get more, say 1 a week or something?
have you bred them? know if they're easy/hard to breed?

Please, when you get some info about breeding silver dollars (and also red hooks) please let me know, I've spend many hours at the internet without finding any good information about breeding these guys.
