Silk Plants

Bae: I have been lookin. I've been to about 5 recently and found nothing besides silk plants that are already fraying, and rigid plastic plants. None of my local places seem to cater to smaller freshwater tanks. In my area the selection leaves a lot to be desired unless you are starting a large saltwater paradise. At this point I don't really want to delve into the world of live plants, either.

Lol it would be funny to test them in the store like that. Thankfully my cabinet gave me what I needed this time :p

I use the Marina plants and they dont fray. You can get great variety to. They are slightly pricey though. My question is...can you put normal everyday silk plantts in a tank. Like the ones you get from cheao $2 shops. I thought about adding some bright flowers but not sure if they would be ok.

The shop "The Range" in the UK sell Algarde silk plants starting at £1.49 for the small ones :good:

Does anyone know if it is safe to use the kind of silk plants and flowers you can buy in bulk at craft stores? I guess the dye that is used is what I'm concerned about.

It would be super cost-effective and fun to make your own. The possibilities would be endless!

Hmmm, it would all depend on whether you could find out if the materials were non-toxic in water? I would doubt they were, because non-foodsafe plastics can release toxins when exposed to water for any length of time.

Ah that's true. I bet if I went to the store and asked they would just look at me dumbfounded

I will consult Google on this matter of plastic toxicity and see what I can find :p
