Silicone air lines... did I do wrong???

Part of the problem might be how thick the walls of the tubing are. Thinner walls stretch more. And if you have enough air pressure the hose could expand enough to slip off of the fitting. Ideal you want a hose that does not stretch . Stiffer hose is harder to put on butane it is on it is less likely to pop off. You could also try moving the air stone so that it is closer to the surface. of the water. This reduces the water pressure on the air stone and the air pressure in the hose. Or find some way to reduce the pressure output of the pump.

the other issue is to insure you areusing hoses and fittings are the correct size. For the hose you need to know the inner diameter (ID). And you need to make sure the fittings are made for the ID of the hose.If not they will not fit together Horwill stay connected.

personally I have switched to push to connect fittings. for my aquarium air lines For these you have to pay attention to the outer diameter of the hose and use hose rates for use with push to connect fittings. It makes for a good reliables connections. But I am not aware of any airstones made for push to connect fittings. A air stone with a plastic hose coming out might work. Of the air stone has a glass or metal hose common of of it, it will not work with push to connect fittings.

How to use push to connect fittings.

The one alternative is to replace the air stones with a small water fountin and or a water fall. Gas exchange with the air is faster with small drops of water or very thin sheets of water. Additionally when the drop hits the water surface it can push air into the water.
 
Somethings are very difficult to bare. Like cheap product that does not do the job. I have silicone tubing that is at least 15 years old and once plugged in, the only way to remove that is to cut it...

Go figure !

But just a little question are you using a multi valves to bleed the excess of pressure or you are restraining the air flow to achieve the pressure desired ?
