So after noticing one of my danios had a white lump on its lip, I added fungus medicine to get rid of what I believe is cotton mouth (Chondrococcus Columnaris). After waiting to add a second dose, I noticed my second danio starting the same. Also I've noticed (maybe out of paranoia) that my gourami seemed to get fatter, just by the smaller front fins. Am I diagnosing (and treating) the danios correctly and just paranoid of the gourami or something to be concerned about?

Need a bacterial med as well to treat the danio, what do you feed the fish as they can get bloated on a bad diet constipation.

I just feed them flake food. I've had the fish for about a year and haven't changed the food at all. Any suggestions on how to help the fish get better?

Add a bacterial med to the tank, as half dose seen as you are already using a med.
Increase aeration, and turn temp down two degrees so the bacteria dosn't muliply so fast.
Will have to get the fish on a better diet of forzen foods, and vag.

a cheap way of adding variety to your fishes diet is feed them defrosted frozen garden peas or romaine lettuce, fish fed only on flake food often suffer from constipation (just like we would if we only ate something like fries & burgers!!!)
for the peas i defrost them by zapping in a microwave for a few secs then pop them out of their skin & mush up & chuck in. lettuce pour boiling water over a leaf leave for about 15 mins, cool attatch to a suction clip & stick on tank wall ( or wedge the leaf under an ornament or rock)
some fish also love zucchini & cucumber blanched ( boiling water soaked for a few mins) as well.
dont expect your fishies to go for it right away leave it for a while ( but not more than 24hrs or veg will start to rot) they may take a few attempts before they realize its food!!! although our mob went mad for peas & lettuce the first time i tried it.
defrosted frozen fish food like bloodworm/daphinia/mosquito larvae is also good for their guts.

I appreciate all the help! I tried the frozen peas. The danios and the cherry barb gobble them up, and I have faith that the pleco will eat the leftovers. The gourami seems to eat then spit the peas out. Any advice on getting the gourami to eat the peas? Plus, should I suspend feeding the fish flakes for a bit, or feed them a little of both?

Leave the flakes for two days and feed other things like frozen and veg, then only feed the fish flakes once aday.
Some fish do spit the peas out at first, sometimes it can take a while for other fish to like them.

So its been a couple days now, and the gourami seems to be eating some of the peas. The only problem is that it seems to still get fatter, and it looks like its gonna burst!! Seems to be uncomfortable or unable to swim. Is there any thing else that it could be, or anything else to do? Also, the danios seem to be getting better slowly, but no progress on the gourami. Please HELP!!

Take some water from the tank, add a tablespoon of salt in a jug of the tank water, mix well till it has disolved, then add the fish for ten minutes, if he roll over and acts weird remove him at once, do another one two hours later, to see if that fetches the swelling down, good luck.

Am I adding just the gourami? If it does 'flip out' should I skip the 2nd try? I do have aquarium salt, should I use that instead of regular salt?

it sounds like your gourami has a possible swim bladder infection. peas are a good start- they will help if swim bladder is the problem.

So its been over a week now and the gourami is eating the peas. The only problem is that the swelling or bloating has not gone down at all. I have been using a medicine for the baterica(its the only one i found, dont know if its the right one... http/aquariumpharm.com/en_us/productCate...ame=Medications ..Click MelaFix) The white lump on the larger danio's lip is still there as well. The smaller danio has seemed to get a lot better, but not gone completely. Is there anything else I can do? Please Help!

If you are in the uk i would get this med it's about the best you can get.
Though it will wipe the bacteria colony out in your tank.
