My torch has not come out properly for the last three weeks, 2 heads about 3/4 inch and the other 1/2 inch. All tank stats are fine, been changing 10% water every week and still no change. I read about brown jelly and checked it over and could'nt see anything, Then today I get home to find the shorter head seems to be detaching from the skeleton and shriveling up, the other two look the same. My hammer is doing really well and my white and green bubble's are really good too. The torch is in the same place it's been from day 1 with good flow to sway about without being blasted..

Can anyone help me please...

(p.s. the torch shrinking down coinsided with the addition of a valentini puffer, we never saw him do anything to it and a week ago he met his untimely death when he lept out the tank when we where in bed. :( .... it did have missing heads when we got it and i have noticed a critter living in one of the empty heads that send out a spider webb fishing line and reels it in cleaning it of the then sends it back out .. just in case this is relevant...) cheers

Euphyllias bail out of their skeleton when there is something wrong - usually flow or too much light. Try moving it to very much less flow and either less or more light. Sorry Mr Zipzap, I can't remember whereabouts it is in your tank so:

Less flow
either more or less light

:good:

well don't think the flows a prob just enough to sway gently without being violent, it's in middle of tank with the 4 t5's 2 white 2 blue and it's the lowest head that has now almost come right out the skeleton now. I'll move it to the bottom of the tank now and see if the other two heads show any sign of getting better. On a plus side the sarco's got bigger with it's tentacles almost 1.5 inches.

Right just moved it, gave it a little shake and the head fell off so hope the other two will be o.k.
Got trouble with me mushrooms now, My big green one has detached from it's bit of rock and floated into one of the caves where i can't reach it.. think the goby upset it by keep showering it with sand all the time.. :)

No its not, saw it today, afraid its a gonna. If I were you Mr Zipzap I would move the rest of the torch further up the rock

The torch was higher up in the tank about the middle, I only put it on the bottom the other day to see if it got better.. i'm sure it is now about 1/4 inch longer but still not good, do you think i need to try top of tank then? Hard to get computer time in this house so sorry for the delay....:)

Blooming heck - don't you like sleep!!

I looked at it tonight and it is certainly looking better - leave it where it is for now :good:

I do like sleep but have to wait in line for the puter :) well today one head is now getting just over the inch but other still no change... fingers crossed will pick up more...

oh this is not me !!!!!!!!!

well my torch is still poorly and i think is getting worse as the 2nd head is now hardly coming out. On a really hard inspection i,ve noticed that it has got things growing on it's skeleton.. when I was watching it I saw the skeleton pulse, on closer inspection you can see what looks like some kind of clam type thing attached to it and then saw a bigger one sandwiched between the two remaining heads. these are very hard to see as mummy seffie would have spotted them. could these be killing my torch.

ps one of these thing is about 1" and the other one is a good 1.5" they have very fine hairs around the opening and pulse open and close the larger one is embedded in the skeleton and can only make it out as the torch is so short and by when its open you get a crack running down the skeleton..

Oh my goodness, I haven't got a clue but take a look at this:

Could it be a baby clam?

I used the term clam like thing very loosely mainly to describe the openening but have now got a pic so you can see..

what do you think torch killer or what??

10 out of 10 for computer skills :good:

But I would go with brown jelly rather than the 'clam' type thingy!!! It will be intereseting watching and finding out what sort of invert it is but i'm afraid you are going to lose the torch! Tell you what, when you are next round we will frag my torch and you can have a piece of that

ps I just lost my green hammer to the bl**dy thing!

I can't see any brown jelly but as they say it is highly contajus should i stick it in with the fuzzy in the the wall as no corals in there but still running old lights
