I have 55 tank with 2 bala sharks, 3 tinfoil barbs, 2 african cichlids, and 3 silver dollars. I had got the silver dollars a couple days back and I noticed that 2 of them were getting white dots on them but they are swimming around great. I was thinking of putting them in a 1 gallon bowl as Ive done with other fish before ( but they die anyway ) and putting the ich medication in. Or can I just put the medication in the tank itself. Or can they just get through it because its been like this for a couple of days now and they are doing fine. But im afraid they might infect the other fish. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Ich also lives on the bottom of your tank and will send spores into your water and your other fish will most likely get it too. They may have it now because it can also hang out in their gills and is undetectable. The best way to treat is to remove your fish (all of them) that way your parasite has nothing to feed off of, and this would take about a week. To treat in your tank, because the ich is in your tank now, i would raise the temp and use an ich killer or look into treating with common table salt.
Good luck :good:

But I dont have another tank to put them in can I just put the medication in there .Because the pet store said the bala sharks dont like salt.

Can you post your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How big are the bala sharks

Best to treat the whole tank.
Raise temp to 30 and increase aeration.
Remove black carbon from filter if you use it.
Check med instructions that you can use full dose with the fish you have, as some types of fish you have to half dose.

Has the whitespot gone now.

It has gone down after I put in the med. and bumped up the tempature but how long will I have to wait till its gone?

Best to treat another week once spots have gone.

Well the ick is all gone but my african cichlid has some white fuzz on the top of his head and tail. Its doesnt look like ick at all. Im really not sure what it is but hes about 2 inches long. Should I continue with the treatment or put him in my 1 gallon bowl and see how he does there.

Okay forgive me if I am wrong but I take it by you saying that your tank has been up for three weeks, that its a completely new tank?
What are your tank parameters..? And to be quite honest if it is a brand new tank you shouldnt even have ANY fish in there at all yet.

Just add some pimafix for now.
Water changes, and increase aeration in the tank.
