I have a 10 gallon tank with 5 platys in it. (3 are swordtail and platy mix, and two are "panda platys").
The tank is cycled. I check water parameters once or twice a week, and they always come out to be 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite. Nitrate varies but is never above 15.

I do 60% water change weekly. I use prime water conditioner, and api stress coat to treat the water.
Tank temp is 78.4 F

There used to be a third panda platy who died few days ago. He stopped eating, stayed at the bottom, looked really weak, and would swim weird. (He had to move his body sideways a lot while swimming. It looked very wavy/shaky).

Ever since the death of that platy, one of the two remaining panda platys has started behaving just like the dead one. He doesn't come up to eat, sits at the bottom either in a corner or is hiding behind plants. His swimming is starting to get "wavy" and appearance is getting more & more weak with every passing day.

He does come up sometimes during feeding time, but he just swims around fast before sinking down. Doesn't really show any interest in food.

One other thing to note is that all my platys have always had long string of poop (both breeds). I have read in some places that's a sign of internal parasite. Could it be?

I have had the panda platys, the ones that are perishing for about 2ish months now. The swordtail mix platys have been around for 4 months.

Two questions for you guys

1) What could it be?
2) How should I treat it? (Separate out the one sick fish in to a hospital tank or treat the whole tank)

Let me know if you guys need more information.

It does sound like they have an internal parasite problem, the wasting away and stringy faeces is typical of this problem. Unfortunately I do not know what medications you have available in canada, you would need one to treat internal parasites, once the treatment has been completed it would be beneficial to then treat with an antibacterial medication to combat bacteria from dead parasites in the gut. Yes treat the whole tank as there is a chance all the fish are infected.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot. I'll find out which parasite medicines I have available.

How did this go?  I am also in Canada and have some very frustratingly sick fish.  Please post if you had success.
