Sick Pearl Gourami?

excuse me but what is the bacterial route?
thanks, and im quite desperate on knowing what to do,
i dont think my fish can survive in their small compartments
the whole night.

I said if no other fish are affected let them out of the compartment, just do water changes on main tank.

The sick fish needs isolating and use a med called furanol 2 by jbl. But it wipes the benefical bacteria out in the filter.
Or myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.
.

You will need in airstone in the isolation tank. Or just a filter with filter floss.
Set heater at 73.

Columnaris lives in the background of your tank, it only takes stress, over stocking, bad water quality, unstable temp for an outbreak.

Alright, i gues im doing everything fine then. The only thing i havent done is bought the med, which i will do ASAP!
I dont know farenheit but my tank is 25 degrees celcius
And i think i know why this prob. came up. as i said earlier,
i left my tank alone for 1 week, and when i came back there was way too much algae.
I have no idea how to control it. what ive been doing is cleaning the screens of my tank
and cutting off leaves of my plant which have too much algae.
Any help on that?

REALLY weird!

my pearl gourami has some stuf coming out of the biggest of the white(and now a bit reddish) holes!
the stuff looks like a white/opac sheet or string of stuff, no idea what it is!
also, some more holes have appeared, also on the top of the fish, and the tail
fin seems to be nipped, i didnt notice this before but it looks like its rotting.
i dont see any reddish or whitish outline on the tail fins jagged line though.

Bad bacteria infections can ulcerate into holes. You need to get treating fast.
As it not sounding good for the fish at all.
Does the strings look like cotton, or parasites.

To control algae.
Don't have tanks lights on.
Black the tank out.
Water changes.
Don;t over feed.
Gravel vac, clean ornaments.

I never had much algae as I over filtered my tanks.

alright, i just now bought a small hospital tank where my pearl gourami is now. i have furanol 2 and have started using it.
but is it normal for the mini tank to go slighly yelow? cuz thats wat happened.
also in the mini tank are two small ottos which are almost completely cured.
i have another post on them called "extreme otto confusion"
rip one of the ottos, but this was before i put the curent two in the mini tank.

Where did you buy furanol 2 from. That's if you don't mind saying. As I another member having trouble buying it.

It will be the med probably that sent the water slightly yellow.

Sorry about the loss of one of your ottos.
R.I.P.

I bought furanol 2 from qualipet, a European subdivision of and equal to petco, a huge company mainly of the US.
I dont know if they have these stores in england, they are mainly in austria, switzerland and a bit in germany and france

MY pearl gourami is acting slighly weird, it is going backwards and forwards,
as if it wanted to scratch its side, althoughit is in mid water, not touching
anything. I have seen 2 small but long strings attached to the fin of my pearl
gourami,I hope these go away quickly. I will update about the strings. the
sores seem to be healing, not sure....

The strings do they have a y shaped tail. As you could be dealing with anchor worm.

Anchor worm causes sores and flicking and rubbing.

If you are unsure if there strands of cotton or a parasite attached.
Remove the fish from the water. Wrap the fish in a cloth soaked in tank water.
Take a closer look.
Don't keep the fish out of the water to long.

Added any new fish or live plants lately.

well I added 3 shrimp and a pleco but this was after my fish got sick and i put him in quarantine.

You shouldn't add new fish if the fish are ill. Just wasting your money and risk the new fish getting ill.

Need to answer some of the above questions please?

well, to respond, the strings went away after 2 hours and looked like small dog fur. they did not have a y tail.
but on sunday, yesterday, I Had changed the water of the hospital tank since there was too much poo. I thought
it would be fine if I did a 100% water change, but it stressed the gourami out too much. over the night,
she died. :-( :-( such a coinciedence it was on halloween eve. but I dont celebrate halloween that much.
my concerns now are: Can the male pearl gourami live without a female? :fish:
How much aeration do I need? is there a way to get aeration without
a pump or the filter flow breaking the surface of the water?
Is their a cheap heater for 3 liter tanks such as my hospital tank?

but I guess most people in this subforum wont know much about
these things since they know more about medical stuff, so I'll
post these ques. In other subforums. If you do know anything
about these things please post thankyou so much for your help.
its a shame my pearl gourami didnt make it, thankyou again for
your help.

R.I.P. my beloved gourami. :rip: :byebye: :rip:

P.s. I recognize my mistake of buying fishes while tank is sick.
wont happen again.

Sounds like it might of been columnaris if the strands look like cotton and fur on the fish.

Bless him.
R.I.P.

Yes you can buy small heaters.
The only way to get aeration is a filter, or pump and airstone.
You don't always need filters if the med going to knock out the beneifical bacteria.
You just need a pump and airstone, heater.
