Sick Or Dying Snail?

gH: 161 on first test, but need to confirm.
tank temp: 77

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Has been upside like this all day, maybe most of yesterday as well. Even after nudging, went right back to this position and sticking out of shell a bit.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 50% weekly.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants: Betta

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): n/a

Exposure to chemicals: none


Not the ideal tank size, but he is still small enough to live there. I feed veggies, algae wafers..etc. Speaking of which...He went hogwild on a piece algae wafer the other day, When I went to scoop the leftovers out, I didn't find any

Your snail is most likely OK, just resting and digesting I would think. But if you want to make sure that your snail is not dead, take her out of the tank and see if there is a bad smell coming from it. Dead snails smell very bad!!!

Well no smell so far. I did feel like a bit of a moron while sniffing my snail. I will def. add that to the list of crazy things I do for my fish. Like cooking ONE pea in a pot of water.

When I had an apple snail he would do that forever. I would poke and prod him so much when I was worried about him staying like that all day. But he always turned out fine. I think yours is just having a little siesta after eating.

It is a good thing. We all love our babies.
OH!!! and dont freak out if he does that thing floating too. Do the smell check however.
My lps said that snails do that for fun floating from the top to the bottom shaped like that.
Something about buoyancy when they are in that shape.

Unfortunately Slurp has died. I haveno idea what the cause could have been. I really wish I wasn't this upset over a stupid snail.
