Hi everyone,

Two of my mollies are acting strange, they seem to have lost weight and are a little pit pale. I know some people say mollies should have salt added to their water but when I bought them the lfs said that they don't add any and they're always do fine. I've got guppies, platys & gouramis in there with them so I don't want to add salt in case I upset someone else. What I'm wondering is if I should do a salt bath because I'm thinking that it's maybe an internal bacterial infection or something ... would a salt bath improve anything do you think?

I live in an apartment so unfortunately don't have room for a hospital tank!

Any advice would be really appreciated :good:

Hi, i wouldn't recommend using a salt bath until you know what is wrong. Salt baths can be very stressful to the fish and you may do more harm than good.

Mollies don't need salt, they do like it, but should live quite happily in fresh water provided everything else is ok.

Are they eating normally?
