Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

Our female guppy has developed symptoms over the past two days. She hangs around at the water surface and is not eating (although she did go for some larvae last night). She has no balance problems or swelling. She has always been on the smaller side and for some months now she has not been gravid (not sure if relevent or not!). This morning she is the same but she is "poohing" a white trail. I presume this is a bacterial infection as one of the male guppies died from dropsy a few days ago (we euthanised him) and I have been treating the tank with melafix. Do you think she will survive and should i try and set up a hospital tank?

Volume and Frequency of water changes:

I hope you can help me!

Long stringy white poo constipation, bacterial infection, to internal parasites.
Is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed.

No, she has no "outwardly" signs of infection. Only the slimy like poo.

Give her a flush through with some shelled peas first to see what that does, if she still has long stringy white poo after that get back to the board.
