Sick Fish (bent Body & Swimming Franticly)

Hi, I have a problem with one of the tropical fish i got about 3 weeks ago. Up until now he has been fine but all of a sudden he is suffering a type of dementia. His body is always bent and he is eratic. His senses are ok as he responds to food and attempts to eat also, however is not in control of his boyancy etc... He is a little fish. In all honesty I am not sure what to do. I dont hold out much hope when fish lose their ability to stay up-right. Not a good sign but any help would be great.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: I conduct a 10% Water change each week.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: No chemicals added or believe to be present in tank.

Tank inhabitants: Platty's and Angel Fish

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 1 extra Angel fish. No added Items into tank.


Any help would be greatly appreciated. All other fish in tank are healthy was was this little chappy up until now.

p.s. The reason his eyes are a little funny is because he was bulleyed in previous tank at fish retailer hence why I got him.

I have same sort of condition with my fish. I trying peas, they are ment to help with balance.

Need to look at your stocking.
You have a slight ammonia reading, water change.
Bent spine fish tb to internal parasites.
What it look liek when the fish goes to the toilet.
Check the anus of the fish to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.
Can you issolate the sick fish.

Unfortunately I only have the one tank. I have kept the light off to help calm things down. He is currently living within the Pirate ship at the moment. Still moving, however I really dont see what else I can do. Will check later on when I get in from work to see what the situation is. If he is still in the land of the living then I will see if I can get some sort of hospital tank set up.

The ammonia levels in the tank are next to nothing. I have also lifted the temperature to between 25 & 26 degrees which has certainly made a difference to the other fish in the tank as they now appear a lot more lively.

If any one has any further suggestions, that would be great.
