Sick Black Molly...yet to be diagnosed

i know, thanks man...the molly actually without medication is doing pretty well now (1 hour after I made the post) Hes swimming higher instead of standing still and no signs of strugglin g or stress. Should I still medicate the water just in case. Hes pretty active now.

Watch the fish before you medicate. Have you fed your fish any light coloured food lately? That could cause light coloured poop. I don't believe medicating if you are not sure the fish is sick is a good idea. It is like giving antibiotics to humans. If you use it too much the bacteria, virus etc...becomes immune to those medications. Then when you really need it it is too late, the med won't work.

If you are pretty sure he has parasites, I would do what Tolak suggested. From what I have researched in the past it works. You can also make medicated food that will treat internal parasites and infections. The directions can be found on the web. White stringy poo can be a sign of bacterial infection as well as internal parasites.

Do let us know what happens. And please do not put your fish down unless it is absolutely necessary.

alright thanks man, ill medicate it just to be sure, should i medicate for a bacterial infection as well or?

my molly defenitely does not have parasites, his poo was brown today, probably something he ate, but he is seeming very lifeless, doesnt swim much, and also I noticed he has a little white thing a little bigger than a grain of sand behind one of his fins, it kind of sticks out, about as much as a grain of sand would, area around it looks fine.

Has he been scratching against the rocks or other surfaces at all? Is that the only spot you see? Can you possibly take a picture of it? I am hesitant to say it is ich as it is only one spot, but it is entirely possible.

What are your tank stats? Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate?
