My angel has been odd for a few weeks now. At first it started looking towards the surface a lot, then it began sitting upside down at the top of the tank, and now it is sitting upside down on the bottom of the tank. The strange thing is, it is still extremely reactive if you put your hand towards the glass, and it will then swim off for a minute or so and return. It's fins aren't clamped at all when swimming, although it looks a bit more of a struggle to swim than usual.

It is about 2 years old now and fully grown. I had a pair before, but lost the other one suddenly about 6 months ago.

Water readings:
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 10ppm

Anyone seen this behaviour before, or have any advice?

A few years back, I had a pair of angels, 1 of which was a lot older than the other, by a good year and a half. But they got along fine. Then the older 1 eventually died (I moved house and it wasn't quite right from then). But then the other started behaving strange. Not eating, lying on its side and eventually it too died. I think it just couldnt get over his we pal biting the bullet and died.

I hope this isn't the case for your fish

try to get another angel of the same size, breed, colour and sex of the one that died. see if he'll bounce back.
they are like love birds.. if one dies the other one usually does :(

It was quite a while ago that the other died, possibly 6-9 months. It's been fine up until the last few weeks. Very strange...

So my angel is still alive. Still upside down most of the time, yet looks healthly (bar the upside down-ness)... A good 3-4 weeks of this now.
