i live in essex. looks like im gonna get a bigger tank at around xmas instead of a smaller one now :D

@ombomb, see my post above regarding the larger tank.

I saw that post. Unfortunately 90L (24USG) is still too small for clown loaches long term and no matter what size tank they're in, they don't do well on their own.

What size is that Hexagon looking tank?

Will you be getting more of each variety of fish that you put into the bigger tank, as most fish licke to be in schools of 6 or more.

I have a 60 litre hex and I think I'll end up with about 12 - 15 fish in it, though I'll probably just have 3 or 4 species whereas you have 10!

I Know i Know...... Its over stocked... Hence the new tank...

The Hex tank is only 30L.... I was told when i got it that it would be good for 15-20 small fish... I then learnt otherwise.

Once my fish are transferred into the new tank i will get some more of the same type. I have almost two of each type and they all seem happy.

@ombomb, the new tank is 155L. I think the 90 was the first one on that page.

adamgaskin, the tank i purchased was from World of Water in Swindon. They have loads of tanks at good prices, although their accessories are a bit over priced.

what @tombomb is trying to say is that healthy clown loaches should be about 6 inches long after 2 years of age, 8 inches long after about 6 years and then continue growing larger and larger. the "max size" of a healthy clown loach is 12 inches long!!

a school of three or more clown loaches should ideally be kept in no tank under 90 gallons --360 liters.

OK, i see what you mean...

I know they get large, but i thought as he was under an inch he would be ok for a few years... Anyways.... it does not matter as the white spot he was infected with just wiped out half my tank!!!!!

The real icing on the cake is in the new tank i purchased some Gouramis from the same LFS and they too have white spot now!!!!!!

Don’t think i will be going back..

The clown loach shouldhave more of his kind. They tend to be nippy when they do not have "friends". I'd watch out for your betta, because if he chooses to be nippy, then he will be the probable target.

Well like i say its all epidemic now! Excuse the pun.

They are dropping like flies now.. Everything has been fine for weeks and now i am finding dead fish by the hour!!!

The clown is a gonner! However Mr Siamese is a fighter! No signs of white spot and is happy as can be!
