I also acquired a juvenile endler
Or a guppy. The fish has coloured up since it's been in my tank and the rear half of the fish is now black. I have seen photos of guppies with this colouration but not an endler. It's still under an inch so I'll wait and see how it develops.

I now have at least two berried female shrimps. It's harder to see the eggs with this colour than with red shrimps as the eggs appear to be yellow, the same as the female's body.

I witnessed a mating yesterday. The two shrimps I think are males were swimming all over the tank and there was a newly moulted skin on the sand. Suddenly one of the males jumped on a female and hung sideways under her abdomen exactly like the photos on-line. It was over in a few seconds, too quickly for a photo.

I spotted a tiny shrimplet while I was cooking Sunday dinner :) I had to get a magnifying glass to check what it was on the tank wall, and yes it was shrimplet. Yesterday during a water change I found a shed skin with two or three white eggs inside - I wonder if this baby hatched from the same batch of eggs?

On the down side, I've also spotted hydra in the shrimp tank :( I siphoned out all the ones I saw but there will be others I couldn't see. I did manage to eradicate hydra from this tank several years ago by siphoning them out whenever I saw any. I suspect these came in with one of the two batches of shrimp I bought.
