I'm thinking of getting some shrimps to help clean some of the algea off the gravel. What would be a good shrimp that could be compatable with the fish i've already got (see below) and clean the algea?

Also

I have just found 2 small snails in my tank are they harmful or helpful?

The small snails will basically do the same thing that the shrimp will. The big problem with snails is they're prolific breeders (they put rabbits to shame) and can overrun a tank. It depends on the species of snail of course, but the common ones you just "find" in a tank are usually ramshorn, malaysian trumpet, or pond snails which reproduce FAST.

Shrimps are great for this. I had six which kept the algae in my tank at bay. Lost them all a few weeks ago when I had to treat for ICH and the algae has really taken hold again

What method or medication did you use for treating your Ich outbreak? There is still a lot to learn on what medications are safe for shrimp.

I was using Protizin, which contains only trace elements of copper but was still enough to do them in!

I now have a hospital tank, just need to get it set up and cycled

What is in Protizin? I did a quick Google and found one mention of methylene blue but it was only a forum post. Is this in UK? I see you have Manchester as your location but there is a Manchester over here in the States too. I'm guessing you're in the UK.

I couldn't find an MSDS (Manufacturers Safety Data Sheet) on it so I'm guessing it's not in the US. Does the UK have any kind of regulatory program where drug manufacturers have to put out a sheet explaining what is in their products and safety issues with the product?

I am in the UK :)

Protozin is anti white spot remedy. Not too sure what it contains really
