Ok, I have community tank and new Mbuna set up. We ummed and ahhed about going for marine but chickened out  I am fascinated by Fire shrimps - would it be possible for a beginner to keep these fairly easily - what would be the requirements of tank size etc - would something like this be a good/easyish place to start or are they for more advanced marine keepers?

Thanks

Rita

Im assuming your talking about a blood red fire shrimp. They are easy to care for imo long as you accilmate them like your soppose to then you should have no problem. For just the shrimp a 10g should be fine. As far as a starting place it is a good place to start. Just thought i would meation they dont come out as much as most the other shrimp. Another interseting shrimp is the sexy shrimp.

Bloods are awesome shrimps, they are good cleaners and peaceful too. However they are very secretive and shy. You will need to provide lots of hiding places for it/them. I have found that if you keep them in numbers of 3 or more then they tend to get braver and show themselves more often,
