Well, this week I was donated a whole bucket with shrimps. A lot of blue ones but also some orange and a serious number of translucent ones. Rough estimate of 500 specimens (all sizes). Thought it was less but the count went on and on....
I've divided them into three groups and of course three tanks. They're still doing great.

I have ~15 big cichlids & still can‘t ID & count everyone. 😹😹😹

Can you estimate the quantity by weight?

Wow, lucky you!
You've not kept shrimp until now?
Oh, I've kept several shrimp species before. But I got rid of them at some point. To have more space for my livebearers.
Wow!! Some of those bigger ones look really nice, would love some photos if you get a chance to take any!
Somewhere by next week, I'll take some photos of them.

No, I just went on counting when I was dividing them into groups. But I've stopped at 485. It's over 500 for sure... But I do have to admit, like I've mentioned before that I thought it would be less when I gave it a first glimpse.
I see... Tadpoles..?
Nope! But I understand the confusion. I was also donated 11 juvi and adult size cories (Corydoras julli). But it turned out that there were baby cories amongst those shrimps. And from the top they do look a kind of tadpoles. So yes, I do get the confusion.

Not my best pics but it does give you an idea of how they look like...

I have about 50 shrimp in my large tank, red, yellow, orange, blue, crystal red, crystal black, rili yellow, rili orange, green, rili black.

Some are losing there colour, problem i've found is that the shrimp fry aren't very colourful when you mix them.

Interesting funny little things though.

Well yes, if you let them crossbreed with another, the outcome of the shrimp fry might not be what you've hoped for...
