Someone pointed me in the direction of this site, which seems quite informative www.petshrimp.com

One of those links is from petshrimp.com.

Here are two links from this site...

Amano Shrimp

Cherry Shrimp

You'll also find a lot o info in the inverts section of this forum. :good:

Thanks once again people :)
I think they will make a very cute addition to the tank I plan to keep
Thanks

I have amano shrimp and they're great! They keep plants spotless. They are also really good to watch and suprisingly have quite a bit of character. One of my shrimp fights off my corys and steals their algae wafers and swims off with them to the top of a rock where they can't get to him!

They like to be in a group (minimum 3)

They also change colour from time to time (e.g. after they have eaten an algae wafer they turn green!!)

They grow to around 2 inches.

They don't bother any fish and most fish wont bother them. I highly recommend you get some!

Cherry shrimp on the other hand are very small and may get eaten which is why with 2 Gouramis I;ve never bought any.

Enjoy!

Most of the shops i go into seem to have at least 1 type of shrimp, shop around it shouldn't take too long to find some, especially in London.

They are pretty easy to get hold of but there is a shop on Great Portland Street it's called Design Aquatics and always has a good range of shrimp and the manager there is very good and knows his stuff. Nearest station is Oxford Street!

I'm always surprised that our own members don't first go to our own members links.....just above. Thanks for puting our links in Matty P. :yahoo:

I just want to point out that the Amano shrimp can't breed in freashwater. So, you will have to buy all the shrimp. Cherries on the other hand can breed in freashwater. I started with 20 in a 20gal tank and now have around 200 of them. If you give them lots of hiding places they normally don't get eaten.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

I was going into central London today anyway so I'll probs drop into that shop. Cheers :good:
