my vampire shrimp molted today and since then this wood shrimp won't stop climbing all over it. the vampire seems really distressed by it and I don't know what to do since this has never happened before :(

maybe it is a good spot for it to hunt for larvaes. take the molt out and put a piece of rock there, and see if they lik eit .. or maybe it wants to... breed. pictures?

I have no idea :( the vampire keeps fighting back and they've been tumbling around all over the place

maybe check later if they are still fighting, maybe the wood shrimp wants to eat some stuff on the new molt

yea, they seem to have settled now but I'm keeping an eye on it

Do you have lots of hiding areas for the shrimp? Lots of rockery creating little caves is ideal, they like to hide right after a moult while their new exoskeleton hardens up.

yea they have plenty of spaces to hide, the other shrimp just kept following them back inside their usual cage lol

Ah, so long as they have hiding spots! Sorry I'm no further help, never kept this type of shrimp before.

You might want to do some research into shrimps behaviors.

It's either it's trying to mate or trying to eat the vampire shrimp.

Sorry, I haven't done much research into shrimps.

This thread wins the award for best title ever!

I think it’s likely that after the molt the larger one could be softer and secreting something the smaller one likes. When the shell forms again it’s unlikely to continue but something to bear in mind in the future. It will be hard to separate a bigger shrimp from a smaller though but maybe more plants will help them hide better?
