I'll start off by pointing out that I am a newbie - at the begining of August I didn't have a single tank or any aquatic life.

I have a 5 gal with 2 ADFs - lots of silk plants, a submerged betta log, and a castle with plenty of hidey holes (1 of my ADFs is EXTREMELY reclusive and I hope he appreciates all the hiding places :))

When I'm cleaning the tank, I've noticed that a lot of debry builds up in the castle. I suck out what I can with a turkey baster and I've taken out the castle more than once just to clean iside of it (it takes up 20-25% of the tank floor). I am considering whether I can add another animal to the tank that could keep that hard to reach area cleaner.

I've read that ADFs and Bettas can co-hab and that Bettas and amano shrimp can co-hab ... so can ADFs and amano shrimp co-hab?
Is there another aquatic animal that I can put in there that would help keep the tank clean? (and what specific care would they require?)
Can I fit 1 more animal in the 5 gal?

The tank is filtered (HOB with a disperser attachment to slow the flow) and heated (approximately 82 F), It does have a bright light in the hood, but I never use it because the ADFs don't like bright lights.

Thanks!

I THINK ADF's cannot cohabit with shrimps as they might make a tasty snack for the ADF but am no too sure though TBH.

ADF and ghost shrimp will not work as have read ADF's eating Ghost shrimps but Amanos being a bit bigger, not sure. I know that some ADF are perfectly capable of eating small fish............

One other thing, your tank temp is 82F or 28C, thats too hot for shrimps really, CAN live in water that warm but will shorten their lives basically.

Sorry, not very positive for you

Hi AC...

Like Charlie said, perhaps not shrimp with your ADFs. Some larger Amano shrimp may be OK, they're quite hardy and fast movers as well as growing quite large when mature.

Have you thought about some larger snails as your cleaner crew, perhaps? You could also consider some Otocinclus, they're quite a small fish and good cleaners but also very quick and should be able to out-fox an ADF.
