I have a 29L fish tank set up etc but without any live plants (although i could take some from my main tank)
Would this be an ok size? im thinking cherry shrimp, crystal red shrimp and/or any other shrimp that look nice.
Would heavily planted be a better idea?

i had a 28L shrimp tank that ive recently upgraded to a 54L tank.
the 28L tank was perfect, but i aquired some new shrimp so had to move them to a bigger tank! i have rainbows, cherrys ghosts and armano shrimp in mine, with a mix of fake and live plants (including moss balls)

i wouldnt keep shrimp in a tank with no plants.....try and get hold of some bogwood with moss on or something, looks spectacular with shrimp rummaging through it!

I have plants on bogwood and lava rock i take it lava rock would be ok?
Ive seen other tanks at lfs that have an actual proper lid Baby BiOrb 15L, and starter kits from 15 to 21L would these do? just cos the 29L i have atm is glass and is heavy lol and the lid only lifts right off and has no "hatch" to put food through so makes tons of mess lol
Ive seen xmas moss on bogwood in my lfs for £8 i suppose i could buy some of that too :D

its down to personal choice what type of tank you go for, i personally hate all bioube/orb tanks but i suppose if its just for shrimp they'd be ok? starter tanks are good too! but dont forget once the shrimps start breeding you'll either have to upgrade or sell them, im hoping to make a 180L shrimp tank in the spring when my juwel rio 180 is empty(!)

Ooh sounds good lots of space for them lol
Thanx for ur opinon

29l is a perfect size for a nice small(ish) colony, plenty of plants and not forgetting they love to rumage around in all types of mosses, more the better IMO.

Will be fine just the amount of shrimp kept will be smaller thats all, all the tanks mentioned can look superb once there all planted out with a nice group of shrimp. Let us know how you get on :)

Hi, Have a 30l biorb as my shrimp tank. I have however taken out the lava rock and sponge filter. I have replaced them with some fine black gravel and a aquaball 2206 with an expantion kit added to it. I dont think the lava rock is very good for the shrimps (they are likely to get sucked into the filter) and also you can plant it up if you have normal gravel

Thanx, my dad has some of my first shrimp, that seemed to die off in my tank, in his 30L biorb and they seem to be doing fine.
I only put the biorb in the list cos it doesnt take up to much room, and ive seen others i like to :D
The substrate that comes with the biorbs isnt lava rock its ceramic, or so they say, when i said lava rock im sure ive previously said that lava rock with plants attached.
