Shrimp + fry = ????

If I bought some shrimp to put in my 5gal tank with my male betta, would they eat his babies?
He has been spawned, and the fry should be free-swimming within a couple of days. Would the shrimps eat them?

I think the shrimp would probably eat the fry, as they cannot swim away fast enough at that age. I wouldn't recommend putting the shrimp in.

Maybe the more experienced betta owners would have an answer?

I know snails are OK. They not only eat algea, but create inforsia (sp?) which the fry can eat. Methinks.
