My first shrimp that looked like it was full of eggs/shrimplets was found dead today. Just sitting upside down in the tank.

I 'think' the shrimplets have been released but it's hard to tell. To those of you who are experienced with shrimp, can you tell what happend from the photo?

A few days ago all seemed well as shown in this picture I posted earlier.

Its hard to tell from a photo, the slight split behind the Cephalothorax could indicate the shrimp was trying to shed and had issues or this could of happened after the death... like i said its hard to tell.

I would double check all your water stats just to be certain its not due excessive ammonia or nitrite and do a water change just to be certain.

Also have you added any plants, decor or livestock to the tank recently?

I had a similar problem with ghost shrimp we had.
One day they were fine, next day I would find them dead. No apparent reason for the deaths... nothing new added to the water, no new decor, nada.

As Shrimper says it is hard to tell, looks like the eggs may have hatched, about a day after hatching the mothers molt and it may not have molted sucessfully, with cherry if they are in very soft water with low KH it may be more likely. If all the others are okay she may just have been weaker and the rest will be fine. Hopefully some of her shrimplets will be hiding out in the tank.
