Those shrimp sure are cute! What's that Ammonia Alert thing?

FB, my shrimp already have some ridiculous names... apart from the sensibly named Milly and Charlie, I also have Ruford and Heart (named by my daughter) and Admiral Ackbar! (blame my wife for that  )

The amonia alert thing is supposed to change colour if the amonia starts getting high, I dont know if it works or not as I have never seen it be anything but safe, but its there because the North Queensland Zebra shrimp are fussy about water quality, especially since they come from highland creeks/ streams in prisitine tropical rainforests.

Some really inverts here. I wish I could have more, though I'm unable at the moment as I fear my betta might make a meal of them :(

I dumped some ghost shrimp into my take at one point, about 8 i think... only 2 large ones survived (the others got eaten right away) and I used to see them walking around the bottom of the tank however i havent seen them in awhile so I would imagine they died or got eaten.

now, i know you said saltwater also so i thought i'd post a picture of my prized posession I had in my old SW tank...Thing was a monster. Lived through a tank crash somehow(lost power for 3 days during winter, tank temp reached low 60 degree mark), and was one of the biggest i had seen. I used to love watching it move about and being up to no good. Used to boss my fish around and heck even charge me with her big claws pointing forward when i would be working in the tank (never actually got me but tried to scare me :D )
