I just set up a 55 gallon tank that will soon have lots of driftwood and rock. I'd like to get a Lima Shovelnose (just one) for the tank. There will be a couple of Ropefish in there, maybe a Birchir. Will the Shovelnose be alright woth these inhabitants in here? The tanks is cycling right now, so, I won't be buying one right away. Thanks.

Your tank isnt big enough for a Sorubim lima, lima shovelnose catfish grow to a minimum of 12 inches and will grow to 20 inches in optimal conditions, my largest one one is currently 14 inches and still growing and i quite expect it to reach full size within the next few years. I wouldnt recomend keeping a lima shovelnose in anything less than a 75g and prefferably bigger.

Alright then. Thanks for the help. :) Any other type of larger catfish that would be good for this size of a tank?
