Im planning on getting a 29 gallon tank and am going t put the fish from my old tank(fish listed below). Do you think i should get some angle and if so how many. i heard they can get big but my friend had some she has in a 5 gallon that are fine and staying small. Should i get some, how may, and which kind should i get :dunno:

I wouldnt get any angels with the current fish you have. Gouramies and angels just dont mix most of the time. Also your friend who has angels in a 5g tank is totally in the wrong in keeping them. They are staying small because their growth has been stunted. While the outide has ceased growing, their insides continue to grow. Those angels will hemmorage and die. You can have up to 2 angels in a 29g but please choose their tank mates wisely.

First, I agree completely with KnuckleHead. Angels in a 5 gallon is a big no no. You really should give adult angels 10 gallons per angel. I know it may sound like a lot of space but angels grow very tall and they are much more happier with space to swim around.

Next, Angels with gouramis sometimes do and sometimes don't work for a couple of reasons. Gouramis are very territorial along with Angelfish. If you had a very large tank say about 50 gallons at min then it might work out but anything smaller you are asking for trouble. I have heard that dwarf gouramis sometimes work out but you are still taking a risk and it might end up costing you any new angelfish you buy. Gouramis nip fins and terrorize angels most of the time.

Hey guys-- my first post, but i've been reading for a while ;)

I actually have a dwarf gourami and an angel in the same tank and they exist together rather well, although they go back and forth chasing each other (it seems the angel instigates most often).

I have recently added a second angel however, and the original angel is being very mean... i'm worried that I may have to bring him back.

29 gallon planted tank
5 rombo barbs
1 black molly
2 angels
1 dwarf gourami
1 red tailed shark
2 red minor tetras
1 something spenosa cichlid ... i forget... :*)

I also have angels and a gourmais together and they get along just fine except the occasional chase which is always instigated by the angels, but i also have alot of space(55gallons)so they can all claim their own space.

If i were you I wouldnt get angels.Imo angels like alot of space.I had my 2 in a 20 gallon and I felt that they grew out of it and I bought a 55 for them.If your going for a community tank I would go for fish that arent so territorial

Good luck!!!! :D :D :D
