A betta or maybe a paradise fish, not exactly weird or wacky but look great and will have a personality all there own. Unortuantly as the others have said ur tank is way too small for the obvious choices of oddballs, primitives/knifefish etc. Ropefish would be a definate no, i had one that was 2.5ft in length!
There are a few intresting looking killie fish that may be suitable.
Ooh just a thought, amazon leaf fish stay quite small and 'may' be suitable, they would most certainly be classed as oddballs. however they will eat small fish. Anything neon sized would become lunch, and probably the cherries too! (may be wrong tho, someone may want to chime in about 10gal suitability.)
Il keep thinkin for ya tho! Can definately see ur fasination with oddball fish, its all i keep. It is a shame ur tank is not big enough for a proper oddball tank, maybe put ur oddball project on hold untill you are in a position where you can get a 75-90gal tank and then you can go mad! ropes, bichirs, catfish, butterflyfish, knifefish, eels, mormyrids, cichlids and many more species would be suitable for a 75-90 gal. At 10 gal ur limited to very small fish or shrimp.
Ooh another thought, african dwarf frogs. Not fish i know but they are okay for 10gal and its not something you see everyday!
I wouldnt give up and start new thread if its more answers u want, it wont help you, its your tank size that is the limiting factor here. The people on this forum are very knowlegeable and will help you as much as they can. The prob is what we all would consider to be odd fish or an oddball would be way too big for a 10gal tank and you will find this is the case wherever or whatever you post.
Ive kept the majority of the more commonly available african oddballs over the years, ropefish etc, any questions please ask.
Ah again not fish but there are some amazing looking nerite snails available, unusual again and good for 10gals!
Il keep thinking, good luck!
