Should I get betta now, or wait??

The other day at my lfs I saw a beautiful crown tail that I fell in love with! I am currently cycling my 2 gallon hex and probably have a few (3-4) more days to go before it is ready.

I held off on getting the betta because I knew my tank was not ready, but now I am thinking, he is just sitting in the lfs in that little cup of blue water, why would it be any different if he sat at my house in the cup of blue wate for a few more days??

Otherwise I am afraid I will miss out on him (may have already!! )

Should I get him??

I'd go ahead and get him. For one you'll have a hard time doing a complete cycle on a two gallon tank, just keep up on your water changes and he'll be fine. Two, you don't want someone else to get him and even if you want to let your tank wait a little while longer, you would be able to transfer him to a larger jar or at least do daily water changes on his cup

I totally agree with Sorrell.

IMO Bettas don't necessarily need a filter anyway so you'd be doing him a favor by putting him in a jar or bigger cup until his tank is good to go.

Yay! Thanks so much for the advice, Sorrell and rykitten! I am going to stop by this afternoon and see if he is still there. I hope so!!!
