Should i get a female for may male Betta

You are correct- I completely agree with you about the fish being lonely... it is very sad.

I think that people who buy animals just cuz it's a cool thing and the going interest in their lives at the moment, then tend to ignore them as times goes on are EVIL people.

I have 2 guinea pigs also that I love and adore just as much as I did when I brought them home 1 & 2+ years ago respectively - and I provide food and all sorts of supplies to a local guinea pig rescue shelter, because of all the poor little piggies who are neglected and mistreated that people dump off there.

It's a good thing that people can't flush guinea pigs down the toilet, the way they can with fish when they're sick of them.

I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands of little fishies out there right now that are in complete misery..

And, to each his own is also exactly correct. I don't buy bettas to have the most beautiful ones, or special order them in any way. I bring home the ones that need me the most. I go back and forth down the lineup of cups and see who looks the most pathetic.

I know, I know - it seems like such a worthless cause in the grand scheme of things, but at the moment I bet Amos, Harvey and Archie are glad I came along.

Regards -

Which statement is bold - are you referring to the one that I took out?

The one where I said that bettas shouldn't be sitting next to another male betta all day cuz they'd be stressed from all the flaring? (edit - cuz I realized that this isn't the case always, so I took it out because I was afraid I'd be attacked for making a statement like that)
or which?

No,that was the one :p I say bold because my boys live side by side and the only time they go flare crazy is when one is getting something that the other wants. Like at feeding time/water change time, the next one in line can barely contain his excitement. They also flare for a minute afterwards as if to say "haa haa,she did me first, she must love me more"...that's why I like to mix it up so they never know what's what  :shifty:

But I also understand your adoration for the broken hearted. This is what got me started in the hobby, constantly fighting for the bettas who were rotting away in department stores. I continued to feed the machine by taking home the dirtiest, rottenest of bettas. I have an entire bedroom full of VT's who came from places like that. They live side by side as well ;)

*hi five* to you then, we think alike.

Every time I go home with another one (I'm only up to 3 at the moment, but i've only been at this for a few months and have a fever to get more more MORE) I feel really great when I can give "just one more" a good home.

Your fish sound like they behave like my guinea pigs do - taunting the other. We have to switch up which one gets fed first so there's no animocity.

;)
