Its possible the lymphocystis was already present before the ulcers as its a viral condition and can hide in the fish before showing. The ulcers may well be due to the fish becoming weakened and possibly the water isnt as clean as it should be and the bacteria invades an already weakened fish.
Really all you can do is isolate it and keep the water as fresh and warm as possible and try and get it to eat high protein food to boost its immune system, if you want to give it a go and try to do what you can for it.
The meds needed strong enough will be from a vet with knowledge of tropical fish and will let you take the med out the surgery.
