shortening intake tube for filter

I was wondering if I can cut it off say... half of it and still have a working, adequete water flow into the filter?
 
What kind of filter is it? If it is an HOB, then yes you can.....just remember to cut the spigot, not the bell off... :X Good Luck!
 
I dont know what hob is but it's a penguin 125

I also don't know what you meant by spigot and bell...
 
Are you cutting it or shortening it by taking tubing pieces out? If you are cutting it you should put something like nylon netting over the end to make sure large hunks of stuff don't get sucked into your filter to ruin it.
