Well, for my Aqua One EuroView 60 that i'm hoping to get, i've made up a quick shopping list. I'm going to have DIY Co2 as I can't afford a pressurised, and the word pressure scares me! :p

Tropica Plant Substrate - 2.5L - £14.99
Black Coal Aquarium Substrate - 10kg - £13.99
Red Moor Wood - small - £13.99
Tropica Plant Nutrition+ Capsules x 12 - £8.65
Tropica Plant Nutrition 500ml - £13.25
Hydor External Heater 200W - £36.95
Aqua Cup Diffuser - £8.99
JBL Universal Lily Pipe - £6.95

IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO GET CHEAPER EQUIPMENT, PLEASE TELL ME!

I'm going to order some plants once I have the tank up and running. I'm going to ask for most of it for christmas off people, and use my christmas money. This time i'm really wanting to go all out!
Any advice or constructive criticism VERY appreciated!

Regards,
Neal

Looks fine but do you need the Tropica Plant Nutrition+ Capsules if you are using the Tropica Plant Substrate?
Im sure heavy feeders will get all the nutrients they need from the Tropica Plant Substrate. -_-

Whats the lighting on this system?

Looks good, can't wait to see some pictures.

RadaR: They are only £8 odd, they will last about a year or so, so extra nutrients surely can't be that bad, and for heavy root feeders, such as amazon swords, they are recommended.

juwelfan: It's 2 x 18W tubes I think, not very much, but it's an open top tank, and I don't want to spoil the look by adding more tubes, so unless I can get some more powerful tubes or get a nice alternative, i'll stick to the originals.

KK.
Remember to make a journal when you do it. For your benefit and enjoyable aswell as everyone elses :good:

I would'nt mind 2x18W!

Oh.. what plants you gunna go for? You going for any set style or theme?

I'm going for a random theme to be honest, a bit like "Mr G"'s, a fellow planted tanker's tank, i'm going to use utricular graminifolia for the foreground (not because Mr G has it, but because it's a good carpetting plant, that doesn't need hairnets or cotton to be held down, and seems easy enough to plant, i'm also planning some dwarf hairgrass behind that. Just some plants I already have, such as amazon swords at the back, some anubias nana, java fern and moss balls attached to the red moor wood i'm wanting, and possibly a bit of christmas moss. Some crypts in the mid-ground, and a few more stem plants at the background, I need a good look at what plants I want to be honest, I can never find good pictures of what plants look like in tanks, just computer graphic images, so I can't see the leaf size or scale next to other plants on them.

utricular graminifol and the mass balls sound good!
I'm going to have to look into these.

I'm also thinking about some dwarf hairgrass behind the utricular graminifolia, what are your comments on this please? Will it be that visible, or is it more advisable to get a bigger species of hairgrass? I'm quite confident I will be able to keep hairgrass alive, and looking green.

hi Neal

I purchased an Aqua One Euroview 90 (204 litre) tank package last week from my LFS.

I noticed that although its a 36 inch tank the aqua one luminaire (same styla as yours) only takes 2 x 24 watt T5's with no option to upgrade. I did a deal and said they could keep the aqua one luminaire if they add the INTERPET luminaire to the package. Its very similar in style to the aqua one luminaire but each model takes 4 T5's instead of 2.

Interpet Luminaire looks really nice and has a chunky aluminium feel (AND HINGES BACKWARDS THROUGH 90 DEGREES FOR TANK ACCESS, THE AQUA ONE LUMINAIRE HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE TANK TO GAIN ACCESS!!) but will be an additional cost. It does however give you the option of doubling your light output and looks very similar to the luminaire you would be getting anyway but is smarter.

Euroview 90 tank and stand looks cool, very pleased with mine, good luck with yours.

I currently have dwarf hairgrass in my tank under 2x15W in a 45l tank. I have substrate and CO2, but the hairgrass isnt thickening and growing as i had wished. If you look at how the hairgrass in JamesC's tank grew in just 2 months, mine has been planted about the same length of time and it's still very sparse.

One other thing i noticed was the amount of dirt it collects :/ Maybe when the grass has spread well you wont notice it as much, but until then it's real dirty.

BTW Mr G is using something near to 70Watts of light over his tank, compared to your 36. Tank size is about the same, so dont go expecting to have the same growth as he has. Just dont want you to spend so much and be disappointed with the results. I am with my hairgrass :(

I'm going to swap dwarf hairgrass for dwarf saggitaria. Thanks alot for your comments about the hairgrass. This is probably just going to be a bit of a low tech tank, as i'm not allowed to buy the 4x tubes, it's £170!
