I have 2 glowlight tetras right now and I know they are schooling fish so I have to get more, but what I wanted to know is if I can get other tetras for them to school with or do they all have to be glowlight.

Some tetras will school to a certain extent but i think 2 glolites is too little for that to work, 6 is the minimum for tetras in the majority of tanks but if your tank is 30gals or larger you will have to opt for more than that. Tetras school because they are small fish and in their natural habitats, are preyed on but practically every single fish, so they shoal together for security and even if you don't have anything that poses a threat to your tetras in your tank, schooling is so instinctive for them they will feel stressed not having enough of their own kind around.

I have different tetras and they all loosely school together, but there are times when they school by species for reasons known only to them. Therefore, you should have enough of each species to make them feel secure when they need to be with their own kind.
