There is an old classical (South African) story about a very gutsy little dog called "Jock" with the heart of a lion.... This happened in the early 1930's, & there were no photos ever of Jock, but I'd imagine from the description by the author, that it would be a replica of your Roobee....

If ever, you can get hold of a book titled "Jock of the Bushveld", Chester.... (written by - I think- it was sir Percy Fitzpatrick).. get it and read it... I'm positive that you'll be able to picture Roobee in every scene and you'll enjoy the book. There is actually a statue of Jock in (I think) a town called Lydenburg in South Africa where his journey began.

Maybe Jock was such legend that you might even have heard of him... there was a movie out as well.... (actually very sad ending. (tear-jerker)

EDIT: Ah! yes!!... Just for interest sake I quickly googled "Jock of the Bushveld"... There is enough said about him to realise that he was not just and ordinary dog... numerous photos though, but I don't think any of those was the real "Jock".... I'm sure you'll be able to find the book somewhere on the net.
