If you start off with 6 multies. You wont be able to sex them. Then add lots of shells like escargot shells and your away.

MULTIS would be my choice,but I would go for one male and two or three females ,thats if you can purchase fish big enough to sex,they will soon multiply giving you a smashing colony,I like pool filter sand in my tang set ups quite a bit cheaper than the stuff you mention and IMO more natural looking,give them loads of escargot shells readily available on line,rocks ? whatever you fancy as long as they are fish safe,I went for river cobbles from a local garden centre ,wont bother the multis what you go for their only concern will be the shells
