Shell Dweller Journal

didnt get chance to go today, fish shop with them in is a treck away, :shout: , asked the bloke to seperate about 6 off for me and he said he will, so when i go on wednesday afternoon i should be able to tell if they are loving eachother knowing my luck ill chose two males acting abit poofy  :shout: .

Yeh brevis share a shell aparantly as they live in areas with a lower shell density, ill still put plenty in for them, i plan keeping this tank as a shellie one, and trying diff kinds.

One final question before i vanish, are there any acceptable tank mates, or shall i just leave them to be happy as a two. I doubt it because its such a small tank, but maby a plec or something, considering i have got that huge huge juwel ugly box with filter media about 20x the size of the fish lolol. I dont mind if there isnt just looking at options

thanks again Ferrs

Tom :good:

In a tank that size, there aren't really many tanks mates for shelldwellers. Don't forget they're quite aggressive.

Oki doki, will do. 4 pages of journal and no fish  can't wait till wednesday, and what am i looking for to see if they are a pair, will they follow each other around for prolonged periods oftime?>

2 fish that will tolerate each other's presence but not completely ignore each other - it's hard to describe but you know when you see it. :good:

:hyper: im gona look like an idiot staring into a tank for ages looking for some tiney fish :good: . Lol i bet they dont even come out thier shells knowing my luck and ill have to pick a shell  lol.

When my sister decides to find her camera, ill get a pic of tank with sand and shells :hey:

hmm one last question befor i go and get fish tomorrow, what if my plan goes tits up and there are no pairs, what shall i doo

Think positive - There will be pairs! :D

They actually spend most of their time outside of their shells. They generally stay close to them (especially females) and will dart in if alarmed, but after a few moments they will emerge again.

edit: Here's some inspiration for you while you wait.

hello, another update and il still fishless and heading towards 5 pages,!!

I had hoped to go to the maiden head at earlswood after the yellow pages had thrown up the number. But yell.com failed and gave me the number for the stratford one wich is about 2hours away. I was a about to throw a hissy fit and shout loud like a good 17 year old should :shifty: , when i found a breeder and importer who lives in wellington. He has got a website and offors a lot of fish, all rift vally cichlids malawi, vickoria, tang..cant spell that one! I rang him up and enquired and he has 1 confermd breeding pair of brevis and two others that flirt with eachother but fall out alot. He told me he would only sell me them if i took the four. But i will go tommorow and hopfully come away with just the breeding pair. If he doesnt let me i will just have to buy the four and hope for the best!

well a little update lol. This man, whos called Dave i think ships aswell. Check out his website!
But i live locally so i wont have to get them delivered!
FishBiz

I will go tommor and look around to see what condition the fish are kept in and how healthy they look and report back!
