Shark Tank Mates

sorry, have to disagree - Neons like a mature tank, not hard to look after but hardly beginner fish. Pristella tetras are the hardiest IMO though a lot of others like Lemon, rummy nose, black widow etc are non demanding.

Have to agree with webber, neons definitely like a mature tank.

Have you had anymore ideas regarding stocking?

Well I really do like plecs so maybe a couple? I'll probably go to my LFS nearer the time and see what they have and speak to them! At the moment I'm doing a fish less cycle, how long until I can start introducing fish? I've heard anything from 2 days to 6 weeks!

Plecos get huge and need a very large tank once they grow larger, so just be aware.

Depends on the species. It's like saying that cars are huge - a Ford Fiesta isn't huge, a Hummer is. There are plenty of plec species that stay small (Bristlenose and Pitbull being two examples) Common Plecs do get huge, though.

Are you adding bottled ammonia (or another ammonia source) to the tank?

Yea someone else suggested the bristle nose too! No I'm not...I've got some amquel plus which removes it all but I've only had the tank up since Monday and didn't know if it was too early to add it yet?

read up on fishless cycling - you need an ammonia source to replicate introducing fish. Once you 'feed' your tank with ammonia it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks usually to fully cycle (i.e - have enough nitrifying bacteria to remove all traces of ammonia and nitrite in a short period).
