Went into one of my LFS day before yesterday and seen a  catfish called the Shark Catfish.

I am very new to tropical fish so I am learning a hell of lot very quickly!!!

What I really want to know is

a) Does anybody else have these catfish and if so what is their temperament like?

B) What size do they grow to and will they be suitable for a 60 litre tank?

c) Is £6.00 a reasonable price to be paying for these great little fish?

My LFS said that they could grow to 12"-15" but I am not sure if that will be less if I put them in a smaller tank.

Thjanks for your help

The fish you saw were most probably Arius seemani LINK these can grow to around 24 inches and will require to be moved into a marine (sea water) aquarium when full grown. By the time they are about 4 inches they should already be moved into brackish water (water with some salt added) and the ammount of salt needs to be increased as the fish grows. These are not a fish suitable for a begginer and require a large tank.
That fish will only grow to size of their tank is a myth, the fish will grow as large as it possibly can externally in a tank that is too small and then stop but the internal organs will continue to grow and eventually kill the fish.
