i gave him a pea...he won't eat. I don't really understand, i haven't overfed him!
He's been fed every other day for the last week.
What do i do for him?!...he's the prettiest crowtail i've ever seen.....not that that matters.

Don't feed him for two days. That should get his belly down. Continue offering the pea, but don't give him any more food.

Are any of his scales sticking out? Are there any other symptoms? It could be a simple swim bladder compression caused by constipation, but it could be something else, too, so any other symptoms you can see would be great for helping with diagnosis.

iv had the same problems, all of my bettas that do ahev a history of digestion problems absolutely hate peas, so that treatment wont work for me either :D

my best advice to you is to starve him for a couple days or longer untill the swelling goes down, its likely either a blockage or constipation of some sort, being off food for a while should help him alot. it may also help to provide him with a 50% water change and a little salt of possible to ease the stress off of him, i can imagine that he's not feeling too good right about now. no worrys thogh, this sort of thing is very common and rarly deadly, he's should get well soon

send a pic of him if u can when he's better, he sounds cool :)

Thanks guys, i think i can sleep now, i was worried he was gonna die when i go to bed. I changed his water and gave him some salt and decreased the water level, not that that really matters cause he's floating. No pineconed scales (Thank God!)
he's just bloated and is especially boyant (sp.)
So here's a pic of him before, not a great pic, i hadn't discovered macro yet

:D im not sure if they float that way because it makes them feel better or because they are full of gas. hes pretty :kewlpics: have u noticed any change in his coloration (like is he getting pale?), and if u stick your finger in there, does he make an attempt to swim away? just checking to see if he's bloated or sick, userally if they are sick they dont have the strength and arnt aware enogh to swim away.

He looks exactly the way Fysh did when he had his swim bladder problems; every now and then he would try to swim downward, but his belly always got him bobbing back up like a little cork! I agree with GuppyDude- withhold food for 2-3 days, and I bet you'll see an improvement.

It's a brave parent who can admit the awful truth ;)

I'm so glad to hear that he's righted himself again; not so nice of him to give you a scare like, that, though :p
