Sexing Pearl Gouramis

Hi, my lfs finally got in the pearl gouramis I ordered (yeay!) and says they are ready to be picked up today. Problem is he says they are too young to be sexed. I wanted to get either two females or a male and female pair this worries me. Any tips on sexing young pearls?

Pick out the two with the shortest, roundest dorsal fins & hope they are both female.

Hey there,

Pearls are beautiful I have a pair myself......The smaller and rounder the dorsal fin the better guess that it's a female.

Also on the small occasion, young males sometimes have their colours up. They are alot more orange/red on the chest than the females.
