Sexing a Koi.

i know koi aren't tropical fish.. but this is the only forum i believe is worth going to :) so.. help me out here... i got this VERY young koi... and i'd like to know if it's male or female.. if anyone knows.. please let me know... here's its picture.

I cant answer your question , but suggested it be moved to the ponds and cold water fish section of the forums , good luck . :nod:
 
It is very hard to distinguish the sex of young koi. As they get older Females tend to have rounder bodies and the pectoral fins of male fish tend to be larger and more pointed than those of female fish, there are a few other ways of sexing the fish but none would apply to your fish at this moment in time as it is to young. :)

I think thats a male from my experience with ponds; females have a shorter width/breadth i think and grow fatter. HTH..
