I bought 2 bolivian rams from imperial Tropicals at Aquatic Experience 2016 Chicago last month. I asked for a pair of rams but they couldn't sex them at that age. it's been a while now and I want to know if it's possible to sex them now. Here they are. Still super hard to tell.

The tank shots are the same fish right?
Just judging from the dorsal fin the one in the tank is possible female.

Can't tell the one in bag at all at all. Sorry. Maybe in a couple more months.

I'm also from Chicagoland

two different fish!

There is one in the tank and the other isn't in a bag but just a plastic cup surrounding it against the glass so it wouldn't escape.

The best indication of gender is how the two fish react with each other. If you had two males, they would be at one another continually. Two females might tolerate each other, though sometimes not. A male/female duo might or might not get along.

The fish in the cup is severely stressed, which is why it has darkened like it has. Please don't subject fish to this kind of stress for no real reason, it just isn't worth it, and the damage can be permanent depending upon the severity. Chasing fish with a net is tantamount to being pursued by a deadly enemy, and the fish will react severely.
