severums or parrot cichlids?

are these fish a type of severum? if so which? or are they parrot cichlids?

They look very much like a severum. Well they look very much like my golden severum.
Yep - I would say definetly a Severum - just looked at them again and the second photo convinces me that its a severum - mouth , eyes and finnage are deffo severums

Thats a Golden Severum.
If they turn out to be severums then they will grow to anywhere around 12 inches and will be stunning. I only have the one but he is the most stunning looking fish.
Do you know the sex of them - are they a breeding pair?

The male can be distinguished from the female because it is mottled with red-brown dots all over the body and worm-like markings on the head. The female is lighter in colour and has a shorter dorsal and anal fin. There can be a dark patch on her dorsal fin as well

they are a proven breeding pair and have had fry lately!

Severums are good parents and to have a proven breeding pair is very lucky - I've tried to pair some up with no success. I havent the tank space to have a shoal of them as juvies and let them pair off on their own.
I envy you on that as they are wonderful fish and I'd love to get a pair breeding

Well a decent sized good condition juvenile will cost about £5-10 depending on where you go. I would guess a proven breeding pair of severums would be worth £40 at least - Thats just my guess at it as I've never seen a pair for sale anywhere.
