Severums Firemouth Convicts?

Hi

would a combination of gold severums, couple of male firemouths and a pair of convicts live together in a vision 260? while all small, will obviously thin out as they grow.
Also i have a shoal of 12 phantom tetras would they be ok in the tank with the cichlids? oh and a red tailed black shark?

Hi, is that 260 litres? Approx 60 gallons? I think you could get a few of the Thorichtys and Cryptoheros species in there with dithers, wouldn't get the severums imo as a combination. Nice size tank for a 1 solo fish, medium size pair or a few of the above mentioned. Be careful when mixing pairs tho!

It the fish are all juvenile it will work. Though I would question your stocking in the long run. Having a vision 260 myself I would advise against severums, these are stocky fish when adult and I don't think the tank provides enough turning room at the edges of the tank. I wouldn't have a severum in that size tank with potentially 2 pairs of medium cichlids.

I would also suggest not having the pair of convicts, they get even more aggressive when breeding and you will most likely end up with an excess of fry that no one wants. I suspect they will also kill off the phantom tetras when breeding.

With the fish you already own (12 phantoms and a RTBS) I would suggest 1 firemouth and 1 convict would be a better option. Breeding pairs of cichlids can really throw the dynamics of a tank, if you don't want the hassle stick with single specimins.

I would steer clear of a pair of convicts as they spawn very very young!, maybe 2 females or 2 males you should be ok with. I have ellioti with severums and convicts without any problems.

The Vision 260 is closer to 380 litres, i have the Venezia 260 by Fluval which is the same dimensions (see sig)

Whaaaaaaaa? Abit of confusion here I think. The vision 260, unsurprisingly, holds 260 litres (probably less due to filter). Surely if a tank held 380 litres, they would call it the Juwel Vision 380 . The Fluval Vicena holds 260 litres, (venezia 190 litres). The confusion may arrise due to the tanks being bow fronted.

48*12*12 isn't by my calculations 55g, prob around 30ish

48 x 18 x 26 is 368 litres according to the site calculator.
48 x 12 x 12 is 113 litres or 25 imperial gallons.

In US Gallons, a 4*1*1 is still 30 gallons, 25 Imperial.

I think it was 48x18x12 is the standard 55g.

To the OP yes I believe this will work as they are all still young. You already stated you were going to thin out as they mature so go for it and post some pictures!

It must be 48*24*12 as a lot of ppl people classify 48*24*24 as 100 gallons....anyway, back to the OP, if its 90 gallons, you have more options, but just beware pairs of any cichlids, they can be troublesome.
