Tank :12 plants unnamed from lfs, tetra's, catfish of kinds and rams.
2 pieces of bogwood and one large rock ornament

I have tried to research all algae but can't be certain which kind is which
Ok so i have a green hairy algae growning on my glass and a few of my plants that sort of waves in the water, a brown/black algae on my rock ornament and in large spots on my filter case and back of glass and a green with white spots algae at the bottom of my tank, all i have scraped many times over, i have wiped all plant clean twice and filter case but they still keep coming back.

The brown stuff seems to be eating away at my plants and the fish keep nipping at it, i'm about to start treament for white spot with ws3? tomorrow and unsure as to what i can do about the algae, i do a 25% water change once a week but will have to leave it for just over a week for the white spot treatment to work.

I haven't suffered with this much algae before and the last time i had it i scraped it off and didn't see any signs of it for weeks, now it seems to be back with avengence.

Please help.

it sounds like black hair algea and it can be a #28### to remove , ive just had a recent bought of it an all my tanks apart from the turtle tank i just did water changes and had the lights on for less time that seemed to kill it off abit and then had to scrub everything to get the rest of it off , i had it really bad on my planted bogwood too that was a pain lol well still is really , i could be wrong btw lol also if the tank is near a window and sunlight is getting to it that will make the algea grow like crazy

See "James' Algae guide" in my sig. It should have all the info you need.
